Art has always been my passion and from a very young age all I wanted to do was draw and paint. Enjoying the process and the whole glorious, messy experience of making art… fulfilling my soul calling to bring more joy and beauty into the world. Here, you’ll find some of the results of that lifelong endeavour.
My art is both abstract and figurative, combining delicacy and bold expressive mark making with sgraffito techniques. Revelling in the creative potentials of mixed media, watercolour, gouache, pastels, ink and collage, sometimes adding luminous metallics to the mix. The work is deeply layered, often richly coloured, expressive, sensitive and painterly.
Inspiration is found in the essence of life, often loosely utilising the beauty and perspective that aerial views, maps or mountainous landscapes provide. The ebb and flow of rivers through the landscape, paths and roads changing over time, expressing the highs, lows and deep experiences of our inner lives. Revealing glimpses of what is underneath the surface and expressing visually what can be felt or implied on a subtle level but not necessarily seen.
